Take A Road Trip by Flipping A Coin....

well this has now been changed to: DECIDE ON A HAIR COLOR!

Haha, neither of these are life changing events but are fun. The reason I wanted to "Take a Road Trip by Flipping a Coin" was to branch out & see more when we went on road trips. Well between our road trip to Colorado last year & driving multiple times to & from Corpus Christi this year, I'm just ready to get where I'm going. Plus gas is about $4/gallon & I'd rather not waste it seeing something that may or may not be worth it. When we went to Colorado we stopped to see the Continental Divide

...and in Golden to do a tour of the Coors Brewery.

So, I'm changing this one to decide on a hair color. I've gone from super blonde to really dark and about everything in between since 2008. This is the year that I think I've finally decided on what I like the best!

READ THE ONE YEAR BIBLE

So, I'm not doing so hot on this one...I'm only on January 5th. I'm six months behind & only have 6 months to go. We'll be on vacation next week, so hopefully I'll get to catch up!

PAINT A PIECE OF POTTERY

Michelle & I went for our second & final pottery class. This class was to paint the bowls we made. We were excited to see how the shape turned out. We were hoping they would look like this...
It ended up looking like this instead...

I was relieved they were in the shape of a bowl & didn't crack! Mike, the owner/teacher, said that they were food, dishwasher & oven/mircorwave safe. We decided we could make the world's smallest casserole dish! He said he'd look for us in The Guiness Book of World Records ha! Here are some action shots...

I was not feeling very creative, so Mike served up some "creative juice" to help us out! You can see it in the bottom left of my picture. The last class ended with Michelle & I making our second bowl. Unfortunately hers didn't make it, but mine did. We decided to jointly paint a 30 Under 30 Commermorative Bowl that would make an appearance to our 30th birthday parties.
The colors will stand out more once it's fired again. I think they'll be ready to pick up in a week & will post some pictures of the finished product. Mike was telling Michelle & I that there might be a gallery show for all the Groupon participants at the Modern Art Museum next January/February. Everyone who participated in Groupon classes will get to bring their bowls for display. I'm so excited & hope this is able to happen! I'll post more details as soon as Mike finds out more.

Add Curb Appeal to our House

HERE ARE THE MANY PHASES OF OUR HOUSE.........
The before pictures:

2003 Where are the windows?!

2009 When we bought the house it was so cute!

The hard winter killed most of our plants. So this is what it looked like most of the time:

YUCK!! It's so boring!

During:

This is with new exterior paint. It was peeling off & very dull, so we had Jamie scrape & repaint. He did a great job!

Side view

DRUM ROLL PLEASE.....
The After Pictures:

Ryan built the shutters himself & hung them up!! I'm so proud of my handyman!! We had painted them a blue color but it looked terrible so with the help of friends I settled on this green & Jamie painted them. If someone ever takes the shutters off, they'll be horrified by the back of the shutters since they are still blue! I was so worried about picking out & committing to paint colors, but now that it's finished I'm very pleased with my commitment!

WOW!!! It's hard to tell all the blooms & colors that everything has since it's not full grown yet.

Side View!

Here's What We Planted:
Outer Windows - Wax Leaf Ligustrum - Pyramid & Periwinkles to the side

Under Windows - Blue Velvet St. Johnswort - Hypericum & Wandering Jew in front
Chimney - Double Knock Out Rose - Hot Pink & Daily...??
Porch - Golden Euonymus
I'll take a new picture in a few months once everything fills in a little more. We mulched over Memorial Day weekend so it looks different now. Once there are some blooms, I'll post an updated picture.

#8 update

Here are some pictures of what my garden looked like 2 weeks ago:

The lighting in the picture is bad but here's what it looked like tonight:

We harvested a jalapeno, cilantro & basil tonight. I have 2 tomatoes and about a dozen more jalapenos that aren't quite ready. Every other plant has flowers blooming so it shouldn't be too long before I get more fruits & veggies! Thanks to the future Mrs. Mark Ruth, I learned about Liquid Seaweed & my plants went crazy! Thanks Jen!!!!
