Plant & Grow Tomatoes
RH & I eat a lot of tomatoes, so I thought it would be fun to have a vegetable & herb garden. We cleared a bed on the side of our house & went to Archie's Garden Land to buy our plants.
Here's our before picture:
YUCK!!!
Here's the after:
Back Row (L-R) Cucumber, Squash (seeds), 2 Bell Pepper Plants
Front Row (L-R) Basil, Jalapenos, Cilantro, Jalapenos
Back Row (L-R) 3 Tomatoes, Watermelon (not pictured)
Front Row (L-R) 2 Cherry Tomatoes, Oregano, Rosemary, Cantelope
They are not the best pictures, but you get the idea. I've planted, now they just need to grow. Archie's suggested some plant food to help us out, hopefully that will work!
In our back flowerbed under the big pecan tree, we planted asian jasmine for ground cover & a japanese maple tree. I forgot to take a picture!
RH & I live in Fort Worth with our Shih Tzus, Nickel & Copper. We've been married since June 2006 and this is a blog about our life!

Learn to sew a quilt
Ok, so it's not exactly sewing, but I did learn how to make a tie blanket. I went to Hobby Lobby & picked out the pattern & backing that I wanted and between Cathy & Evelyn (the lady who works in fabrics @ Hobby Lobby), I learned what to do. It was very easy! Here's how it turned out:
I made it for Copper since Nickel already had a blanket that was similar.

New Addition
We have exciting news about a new addition to our family....
Gotcha! It's Copper, our new brown & white Shih Tzu. He's a little over a year old & weighs 13 pounds.
A friend of mine from high school, Shannon, knew what we were looking for & contacted me when little Copper needed a home. He was at a kill shelter in Wise County & Day 3 was fast approaching. Jill & I went to pick him up first thing the next morning. The little dog was so excited. It was if he knew he was being rescued & taken home. Unfortunately, he smelled really bad, but had already been cleaned up & didn't have fleas or knots in his fur. His first stop was Glamour Paws, where we take Nickel, to get groommed and then we went to the vet. Dr. Gumphory thinks Copper was probably hit by a car but can easily be fixed up. Nickel is tolerating his new fur-brother much better than I expected & is teaching him the daily routine. Copper doesn't play with toys yet or with Nickel, he is happy just getting his belly scratched!

Run a 5K
My friend Allison wanted to run with me, but she talked me into a 10k! I was a little nervous, but glad I did it. We ran about half of the marathon, so I met my goal. Mile 4 was the longest & I was really ready to be done, but then Mile 5 came and it was all downhill from there! Here's the map of the race:
My number:
We finished in an hour & fifteen minutes, which isn't too bad for my first time. Allie could've ran the entire way, but stayed & walked with me when I needed a break. RH & I have been running/walking from our house & around the TCU loop a few nights per week. I'm also working out with a friend who is a personal trainer 2 mornings a week at 6:45am...I'm not very friendly that early! I like how this is changing my habits & have lost 3 pounds!! Allie & I are doing another 10K soon & hope to finish in under an hour!
